In our Toddler group, the children are aged between 18 months to 2 years. The children are encouraged to be independent learners and explore their environment.

We provide activities to support the children the through the three prime areas of learning: personal, social and emotional development; communication and language; and physical development. Along with four specific areas of learning: literacy; mathematics; expressive arts and design; and understanding the world.

We have a structured program, which is monitored and changed on a weekly basis to help the children progress well during the first years of life. At this age, your toddler continues to explore all their very interesting new abilities, with lots of walking and running climbing, dancing and more, they will have developed interest in developing friendships and taking part in variety of activities during the day.

Staff will focus and monitor Speech and language develop and encourage children to learn new words and gain self-confidence.

Activities

Music is a great way to improve children’s cognitive skills, creative skills and helps improve productivity. At little footsteps nurseries we have a large range of musical instruments as well as singing classes to help encourage your child’s musical talents.

Heuristic play describes the activity of babies & children as they play with and explore the properties of ‘objects’.  this involves the sensory exploration of ‘everyday items,’ anything from packs of pasta, wooden spoon to a piece of string or sticks from the garden. The core difference between this and playing with regular toys is that toys are often limiting in what they can do, while heuristic play with any household object allows your child’s creativity to take over.

  • It stimulates creativity and imagination.
  • It supports gross motor skills and brain development in infants and toddlers.
  • It stimulates multiple senses and critical thinking.
  • It promotes early mathematical conceptual learning.
  • Promotes independence.

We offer a number of physical activities outdoors and with various materials to encourage curiosity, creativity and an understanding of the world we live in.

Constructive play is the use of toys or other non-toy materials to build or create something new. Typically, it includes activities associated with construction such as dissembling, moulding,  assembling, sorting or stacking.

Children will get involved in baking cakes and biscuits often bringing some home for families to try!

All of our nurseries are equipped with large outdoor play areas. From soft cosy areas, grasslands and an excellent selection of toys your child is encouraged to develop their motor skills, exercise and have fun.

Aside from the above we provide nutritious meals for all of our children in line with any dietary or religious requirements.
