Baby unit

We provide a range of resources and activities which are age appropriate and suitably challenging for babies aged 3 months to 18 months.

We strive to ensure our nurseries are happy, warm and stimulating environments  for all our babies with heavy focus on praise and encouragement.

At little footsteps nursery we provide a range of resources and activities which are age appropriate and suitably challenging for you child.

Each day the nursery is set up with activities to meet all seven areas of learning as outlined by the Early Years Foundation Stage 2015 including outdoor and forest schooling.

Activities

Sensory play is designed to stimulate your childs hearing, sight, touch, smell or taste. It also includes play that involves movement or balance. Our sensory play area is full of  malleable substances, such as water, sand, bubbles, jelly, and cornflower – ensuring your child stays safe.

Creative play encourages self-expression and communication skills, helping  to master physical, social and cognitive skills.  Our creative play is designed to develop children’s language and communication skills which enable children to learn and grow while adapting to the real world later in life.

We all know exercise is important, especially for children. Physical play helps a child to develop connections between the nerve cells and the brain. As these connections develop, a child’s fine and gross motor skills, socialisation, personal awareness, language, creativity and problem solving are all improved. We offer a number of physical activities including various sports and dance classes.

Music is a great way to improve children’s cognitive skills, creative skills and helps improve productivity. At little footsteps nurseries we have a large range of musical instruments as well as singing classes to help encourage your child’s musical talents.

Heuristic play describes the activity of babies & children as they play with and explore the properties of ‘objects’.  this involves the sensory exploration of ‘everyday items,’ anything from packs of pasta, wooden spoon to a piece of string or sticks from the garden. The core difference between this and playing with regular toys is that toys are often limiting in what they can do, while heuristic play with any household object allows your child’s creativity to take over.

  • It stimulates creativity and imagination.
  • It supports gross motor skills and brain development in infants and toddlers.
  • It stimulates multiple senses and critical thinking.
  • It promotes early mathematical conceptual learning.
  • Promotes independence.

Constructive play is the use of toys or other non-toy materials to build or create something new. Typically, it includes activities associated with construction such as dissembling, moulding,  assembling, sorting or stacking.

We have story time every day as well as lessons in reading and writing. This gets children used to communicating, reading and speaking in public. All important skills for later on in life.

All of our nurseries are equipped with large outdoor play areas. From soft cosy areas, grasslands and an excellent selection of toys your child is encouraged to develop their motor skills, exercise and have fun.

Aside from the above we provide nutritious meals for all of our children in line with any dietary or religious requirements.
