Please do not bring your child to the nursery if they are unwell, or if they have had a sickness or diarrhoea in the last 48 hours. Some conditions can be very contagious and will spread through the nursery causing other children to become ill.

Equal opportunities

All children will be equally provided with an experience and opportunity, irrespective of race, gender, creed, religion or belief.

Children develop an understanding that all people are equal, and any differences are to be enjoyed. All staff will be appointed on the grounds of qualifications, experience and suitability for the position.

Prevent of duty
From 1 July 2015 all schools, registered early years childcare providers and registered later years childcare providers are subject to a duty under section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. This duty is known as the Prevent duty.

At little footsteps we have already attended the Prevent of duty course and have implemented a policy for Prevent. This is available to all parents to read on our information board.

The nursery prevent of Duty allocated person is Amy Chahal.

Schools and childcare providers are already responsible for keeping children safe, however the Prevent duty reinforces these existing responsibilities in respect of radicalisation of children.

The Prevent duty does not require childcare providers to carry out unnecessary intrusion into family life but, as they would with any other safeguarding risk, they must take action when they observe behaviour of concern.

Safeguarding children
The happiness and safety of our children is paramount and we will work with you, your children and the community to ensure they get the very best start to life. We are committed to promoting awareness of child abuse issues through training and empowering children. Our policy on child protection is available for you to read.

Little Foot Steps Nursery is required under the standard to set out a statement on child protection and the procedures in place to protect all the children in our care.

The nominated safeguarding person in our nursery who is responsible for safeguarding children is: Simrat Sahota Deputy Manager and Katrina Okoe Unit Coordinator. Any person, whether staff, parent, carer or other, who has concern regarding the action or lack of action by any member of staff which could be a child protection issue, should raise their concerns in line with the complaints procedure.

All parents / carers must sign in out their child when dropping of and collecting if you are unable to collect your child yourself and have organised an alternative to do so, please inform a member of staff. If your child is not collected by a designated time, the staff will contact our local Social Services.
